Juan Pablo is a highly successful racing driver. He won the CART title in his rookie season (1999), following up with the Indianapolis 500 victory in 2000, also at his first attempt. This was after winning the Formula 3000 championship in 1998.
In 2001 he moved to Formula One with WilliamsF1, finishing 3rd in the 2002 and 2003 championships, and winning the Monaco race in 2003, making him the last driver to have won both the Indy 500 and Monaco.
Midway through the 2006 season he left his then F1 team Mclaren to rejoin Ganassi and begin a NASCAR program, a switch that yeilded its first win at Infineon in 2007, his first full season of competing. While yet to win on an oval, he has had three second places, at Indianaoplis (2007), Talladega (2008), and most recently at Pocono in 2009.
In 2007 and 2008 he won the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Ganassi.
